Do I need both HR and payroll?

No, but we strongly recommend it!

You can use Umana HR and export to a 3rd party payroll, but you loose many of the advantages of a fully integrated system.

Many payroll functions are handled by, or shared with, the HR department. (Examples: enrolling employees in certain benefits and selecting options, managing time banks, and determining pay rates and premiums based on job worked, seniority, and certification.) Having both and HR and payroll makes this easier.
