Net pay troubleshooting

To understand exactly how a particular statutory deduction was calculated, you can have Umana show you exactly what was done.

1. Run the net pay calculation in a debug (verbose) mode which records the various intermediate variables values.
2. Then view these results.

You may want to do this for just one employee at a time. Tracing the calculations for the entire company produces a lot of data.

1. To run the net pay in debug mode.

When requesting the net pay calculation: hold down the CTRL key when you click the [FINISH] button to start the process.

• If there is a dialog box with a question you need to reply to, hold the CTRL key down while clicking the [OK] button.

• The words DEBUG MODE should appear in a tiny window on the top right of the Umana desktop.

This records the details of the tax calculations in a temporary file.

2. To view the details

• Go to Top menu > Tools > Debugging...
• This opens the Advanced debugging window. Click the [Pay calc trace] button.
• Choose one of the options from the dropdown menu.

This opens a browse window where you can view detailed steps of the last calculation. At the bottom of that window are buttons which let you print the results or export them to Excel.
