TBL: JSTAT - Employment status

JSTAT table - Employment status

Indicates whether a person is currently an active employee / consultant / stagiaire / etc.

  • The code EMPL means the person is active.

  • The code INAC means the person is inactive, but not terminated

  • The code LTD (Long term disability) is similar to the INAC code.

  • The code TERM is for terminated employees

  • The code DECE is for deceased persons. Equivalent to TERM

  • The code RETR is for retired persons. Equivalent to TERM, but may have special handling for benefits.

ATTENTION

Do not attempt to change the codes used in this table or to add other codes. These codes are "hard-coded" in certain programs and need to remain unchanged.

USAGE

The JSTAT is not assigned to an employee directly, although it is recorded in the JOBHIST record.

Instead, it is infered from the movement (JACTION) code. It can be changed by a new movement, depending on what the corresponding JACTION table entry has in TBLC1

When a movement is entered, the JACTION table is checked and the TBLC1 (first value in the ADDITIONAL INFO section) is checked.

  • If a JSTAT value is found there, the JSTAT of the employee is changed. For example the HIRE movement usually has the JSTAT value of EMPL. Similarly for a rehire. But the LAYOFF code might cause the JSTAT to changed to TERM or INAC.
  • If there is no JSTAT value attached to the movement code, the JSTAT is not changed by that movement. For example, a RAISE movement might not change the employment status -- an inactive or LTD employee can still get a raise.

This is the default value to be used only if no pay code is specified in the JACTION table, for the employee's last major movement code.
